Please direct any potential candidates to email@example.com and add Alumni Referral to the subject. All vacancies can be found here but please do not hesitate to contact the HR team if you need any further information about our vacancies.
Another fantastic evening with a brilliant turnout of old friends in Dublin. The stylish Dylan Hotel hosted the group, and right from the off, memories flooded back as familiar face after familiar face walked up the steps to the outdoor terrace.
It was clear from our registrants when we launched our FD Alumni that Dublin would possibly be the largest chapter. It must be an Irish trait to travel afar, but then have that calling to be closer to home. Most of this crew experienced international travel with FD, but now have their day job, and for many their home in Dublin.
It’s always interesting to see a group of ex-FD talk to each other about where they are now, and find out they work for the same bank or tech firm. We jokingly talked of the need for something like an FD pin for the lapel so that folks know their connected heritage! In any case, it was evident that the bonds remained strong, and the friendships were for life. The conversation flowed easily as did the refreshments! In true FD style, the event lasted long into the night.
The evening was tinged with a sadness however. There were many comments of support, condolences, gratitude and warmth to Brian and his family. A tear or two, but remembering smiles and laughter. I was struck again (as with the previous 2 chapter launches) at the impact Brian and this company have had on so many lives. Careers initiated and developed, friendships built and relationships formed. Even marriages and babies. Everything a legacy of a great man. His memory will never die.
We had another fantastic evening in the very cool, Coppa Club, at Tower Bridge. It was lovely to see so many old colleagues turn up and enjoy a very traditional FD night out (We had no concerns that the London crew would partake readily in the drinks & nibbles 😊). Again, it was really cool to hear how Alumni careers’ have developed but also the life-style changes that have occurred. We were taken aback at the number of marriages and multiple babies, but the number of “FD Couples” with kids was great to hear – the “FD Baby” phenomenon is well and truly alive.
Too many legendary FD names to mention, but there was a real warmth in the room, some great reminiscing of old war stories, CMTP pass & fails, with the accommodation locations and staff nights out always to the fore. Like in NYC, the theme of the evening was clearly that FD had an impact on all of those careers’ and the work/social balance was a hugely important thing and still is for many.
All in all, another great night – it was lovely to see the bond between staff members, and refreshing to hear that so many still keep in touch despite working for different organisations. I am sure London will lead the charge as a main Alumni chapter going forward.
On Wednesday 22nd May, 2019 we launched our FD Alumni in New York City on the rooftop of the Dream Midtown hotel. This opportunity to network with former colleagues, allowed us to catch up on career progression and lifestyle changes, as in many cases, new families had been formed. It was great fun reminiscing on old war stories, both on and off the field of battle. We were struck with the fondness that many alumni looked back on their time with FD, and the willingness to engage with the alumni chapter going forward. We look forward to the next NYC rooftop in the near future.
