Why did you choose a career in the Capital Markets with FD?
After earning my Master’s in Financial Maths from Turin University, I moved to London and started my career in the Capital Markets as a Murex Consultant. Having taken part in a four-month full-time training programme on finance, programming, business analysis and project management, I was later assigned to a Credit Risk project based in Frankfurt. I returned to London after six months to join a Proof of Concept for a Murex upgrade in a Global Investment Bank. I continued my career in Madrid and joined one of the biggest consultancies in the country for which I worked for a year as a Murex and Calypso Consultant, having the opportunity to be part of two major projects within two leading investment banks.
After this time in Spain and aiming to come back to London, I started in FD as a Murex SME Consultant. Soon after joining, I was sent to Client site for a Murex implementation project for which I have been working since May 2014.
Working within FD’s Capital Market practice has allowed me the opportunity to provide IT and financial services to a major Japanese Bank. This is being a great opportunity to broaden my knowledge in the financial markets, develop new skills as a Senior Consultant and be involved in all phases of a complex and large scale transformation project.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy being part of a very big Murex green field implementation project because this has allowed me to be exposed to several Capital Market areas and to cover various roles within the same project. Since the beginning, I have been given more and more responsibility and I am now leading the Repos and Security Finance stream, working hard towards a successful project delivery for the next go-live. I appreciate the trust and commitment FD has shown in me when it comes to make important decisions and move to new and more challenging roles. Finally, I like the feeling of being part of a very strong and competent team on Client site as well as the opportunity to keep learning every day.
What does your current working day look like?
I am currently the leading Murex BA assigned to the Repos and Security Finance stream. This includes Front-to-Back analysis and testing for product life cycle integration, migration, pricing and Market Data processes. The day begins with the daily catch up meeting to go through the issues that have arisen from the previous day and the list of everyone’s next actions. The rest of the working day involves a mixture of the following activities: working on the Repos integration interface to make sure all trade insertions and events performed in Front Office systems are correctly represented in Murex; managing the Migration stream and analysing the results in order to make sure we will be ready to successfully migrate the whole trade population on go-live date; creating, structuring and performing test cases; assisting Junior colleagues and reviewing their work in order to always ensure a high quality standard; taking part in meetings with the Business in order to report progress and agree on approaches, solutions and priorities; undertaking general Business Analysis and working together with developers to make sure development is in line with specifications.
