Why did you choose a career in Financial Consulting with FD?
After spending several years as a software developer in various industries I joined FD to take over an interesting and challenging project where we were building highly responsive and feature-full graphical web front ends. Since joining the company I have worked with a diverse variety of technologies, in long and short-term projects, covering many different areas of financial technology. I have had the opportunity to visit clients in different continents and spent 3 years in Italy learning to speak the language and appreciate the food. Every day I continue be pushed in interesting directions and I constantly face a wide range of interesting challenges from large-scale financial management to day-to-day issues I can resolve for my clients.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy working with the dynamic and ever-growing team in FD. From day one I was given responsibility for my work and my input and suggestions have always been valued. I’ve been part of small and large teams, in both FD offices and investment banks. The work is varied and always challenging and I enjoy moving along with such a progressive company.
What does your current working day look like?
I am currently working in London for a long-term project based in the US. I am responsible for requirements gathering, documentation and implementation for a large number of processes within the bank. I work with an FD team in Northern Ireland and in the US, as well as client contacts, to ensure quality and meet deadlines. Every day I’m liaising with testers, working with the bank to confirm requirements and writing code for weekly releases.
